Megafon introduces emergency SMS alerts

(DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Russian mobile operator Megafon introduced emergency SMS for its subscribers. Developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Communications, the service uses cell broadcast technology to alert customers via SMS of local emergency situations. The messages apear on the screen of the handset and include a list of emergency telephone numbers.
