By subscribing to the Service (“the Service”), you agree to the following terms and conditions:

* The Service “Yebo4Less 100% Free calls promotion” is available to Vodacom customers only.
* The Yebo4Less 100% Free calls promotion will run for a period of six weeks from 12 September 2010 at 00h00 to 09 January 2010 at 23h59.
* Only Vodacom Prepaid and Top Up (Top Up 99 and Top Up 199 only) Yebo4Less customers can benefit from the Yebo4Less 100% Free calls promotion.
* The 100% discount is applicable to voice calls only (excluding SVS, reverse charge, conference calling, premium rated calls, international calls, calls made while roaming on an international network and data calls).
* The 100% discount on the Service apply to off-peak, on-net (Vodacom-to- Vodacom) voice calls only and up to 99% discount will be applicable off-net (Vodacom-to-Other Networks).
* Yebo4Less 100% Free calls promotion will not be applicable to customers with a zero balance in their prepaid account.
* All data services are excluded from discounts (SMS, MMS, USSD).
* Fax printout, message forwarding, through connect and reconnect functionalities don’t qualify for the discounts offered on the Service.
* In order to view the discounts on the cellphone screen, customers have to activate Cell Broadcast / Cell Info display on their cellphones. NOTE: The % discount will replace the area info, so customers will not be able to view their area info.
* If a customer is on the Vodacom 3G network, you will not receive the Cell Broadcast due to 3G network configuration restrictions.
* Customers can dial *111*444# to find out what the current call discount is for the particular area they are in at that time.

GENERAL

1. Vodacom will use its best efforts to secure the uninterrupted supply of the Service, and will take all reasonable steps to correct any error, omission or mistake in the Service.

2. Vodacom will under no circumstance be liable for any error, delay, failure or nonavailability of the Service, and are indemnified against any damage or loss you may sustain as a result of the aforesaid.

3. Vodacom reserves the right to modify or discontinue either temporarily or permanently, the Services with or without notice. You agree that Vodacom shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuation of the Service.

4. Vodacom has the right to change or modify these terms and conditions at any time with the method of notice determined by Vodacom

Vodacom Tanzania – Cell Broadcast


A Vodacom Tanzania coloca o serviço Vodazone baseado na solução i-Cell da Bercut no serviço de receita.

i-Cell provides additional income for Vodacom Tanzania


Vodacom Tanzania put the Vodazone service based on the Bercut’s i-Cell solution into the revenue service. The unique Vodazone service is available to all 5 million subscribers of Vodacom Tanzania.
It enables achieving two goals: network load balancing and increasing ARPU. The service is controlled by the Cell Broadcast service, which is a part of the i-Cell solution.

– We are completely satisfied with capabilities of i-Cell and the service provided by Bercut Ltd. The companies specialists managed to meet a tight schedule, which enabled us to launch the Vodazone service within the time required, – Erasto Haule, Head of Department Network Quality of Vodacom Tanzania says. – In the near future, we plan to use all additional capabilities of i-Cell for increasing penetration of VAS and ensuring a growth of ARPU via VAS promotion (targeted proactive sales of mobile content).

The unique nature of the Vodazone service consists in the following. Bercut i-Cell implements geotargeted promotion of operator’s services, namely outgoing calls. When a subscriber moves to a free network segment, they receive the CBC message offering a discount for making calls to other Vodacom subscribers. Such an approach incites subscribers to make outgoing calls, which contributes to optimization of the network infrastructure usage and an increase in the operator’s ARPU.

Vodacom Tanzania Prepaid and VodaJaza customers can now call their friends and family who are on Vodacom and talk for up to 50% less depending on the location and time of the day everyday from 6am to 10pm. No registration required!

YEBO4LESS to rival MTN Zone


The battle between the cellular giants in South Africa continues. This past weekend, Vodacom launched YEBO4LESS which seems to rival MTN’s Zone offering but as with an competition, Vodacom have gone a step further than MTN. What YEBO4LESS and MTN Zone virtually do is; callers get discounted call rates depending on where they are making their call from with regards to the amount of ‘traffic’ in use on the network based on their location. So lets say I am in an area with very little network traffic, my phone call will cost a lot cheaper than if I were in an area such as the CBD where there is a lot of ‘traffic’ on the network.

MTN were the first to introduce this offer a couple of months ago and it has been highly successful for them with quite a number of subscribers opting for this offer. But when MTN launched this offering, the discount was only for MTN to MTN calls. Now Vodacom has come to the party and introduced a similar offering to MTN but now Vodacom have gone a step further and have also introduced a discount offering not only for Vodacom to Vodacom calls but also to calls from Vodacom to other networks in South Africa.

From the face of it, it looks like Vodacom’s offering is much better than what MTN were offering. It would not surprise me if MTN decide to also offer discounted calls from MTN to other networks in order for them to compete with Vodacom.

The cellular industry in South Africa is very competitive with the two giants, Vodacom and MTN aggressively competing against each other for subscribers. Cell C is not as a big force as these two, which is understandable considering the resources the big two have. Cell C came in with an offering about a year ago where they introduced the ‘talk for free’ offering where Cell C subscribers can call each other for free over the weekends. There was a lot of buzz about this at the time with many thinking that Vodacom and MTN would introduce something similar to their subscribers but that never happened. One then has to ask the question, “Why didn’t the big two introduce something similar to Cell C’s talk for free on weekends?” The most logical answer would be that such an offering was potentially loss leading and the big two saw no value of such an offering whereas Cell C are so desperate to increase their subscriber base that they may have been forced to offer a loss generating campaign in order to try increase subscribers.

For now we just have to wait and see what the introduction of Vodacom’s YEBO4LESS will do to the market. I am sure it will be well received as it is only available to prepaid customers and they are the ones who make up the bulk of Vodacom subscribers. In the current economic climate we are in in South Africa today, any form of savings and a discount will be greatly welcome by the consumer.
