Cell Broadcast | GR-Alert | Greece


Cell Broadcasting (CB) is activated by default on most CB-capable smartphones sold in Greece. If you want to check whether CB is activated or to turn off CB alerts on your cellphone, follow the instructions below, depending on your cellphone. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Cell Broadcasting on Android

The process to toggle emergency alerts on/off on a CB-capable Android device will vary based on the manufacturer. If the manufacturer of your device is listed, check the instructions specific to your manufacturer. For other Android devices, you may use the instructions below. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Toggle Cell Broadcasting on/off

Step 1: Open the Settings menu

Step 2: Under “More…”, select “Emergency Alerts”

Step 3: Find the “Extreme Alerts” or “Emergency alerts” option and turn it on/off.

Read Alerts

Step 1: From your Messages app, select “Settings”.

Step 2: Tap “Emergency alerts”.

Cell Broadcasting on iPhone

CB alerts are activated by default on iPhones sold in Greece and running iOS 13.3 or newer. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Toggle Cell Broadcasting on/off

Step 1: Open the Settings menu
Step 2: Under Select “Notifications”
Step 3: Scroll down at the bottom of the page, find the “Extreme Alerts” option and turn it on/off.

Read Alerts

You may view your alert history at your Notification Center. From the Home Screen, scroll down to view the Notifications Center.

Cell Broadcasting on Samsung

CB alerts are activated by default on CB-capable Samsung smartphones sold in Greece and running an Android version newer than December 2019. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Toggle Cell Broadcasting on/off

Step 1: Open the Settings menu.
Step 2: Select “Apps & notifications”, then select “Messages”.
Step 3: Select “Notifications”, then find the “Emergency Alerts” option and turn it on/off.

Cell Broadcasting on Xiaomi

CB alerts are activated by default on CB-capable Xiaomi smartphones sold in Greece and running an Android version newer than December 2019. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Toggle Cell Broadcasting on/off

Step 1: Open the Settings menu

Step 2: Select “SIM cards & mobile networks”, then tap the “More…” option.

Step 3: Find the “Extreme Alerts” and “Emergency alerts” option and turn it on/off.

Cell Broadcasting on Nokia

CB alerts are activated by default on CB-capable Nokia smartphones sold in Greece and running an Android version newer than December 2019. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Toggle Cell Broadcasting on/off

CB alerts are activated by default on CB-capable Huawei smartphones sold in Greece and running an Android version newer than December 2019. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Cell Broadcasting on LG

CB alerts are activated by default on CB-capable LG smartphones sold in Greece and running an Android version newer than December 2019. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Toggle Cell Broadcasting on/off

Step 1: From the Apps Screen, select “Cell Broadcasting”.

Step 2: Select “Menu”, then select “Settings”.

Step 3: Turn all options on/off.

Cell Broadcasting on Sony

CB alerts are activated by default on CB-capable Sony smartphones sold in Greece and running an Android version newer than December 2019. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Toggle Cell Broadcasting on/off

Step 1: Open the Messages app

Step 2: Select “Settings”, then select “Area information”.

Step 3: Select “Off”.

Cell Broadcasting on Motorola

CB alerts are activated by default on CB-capable Motorola smartphones sold in Greece and running an Android version newer than December 2019. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Cell Broadcasting on Alcatel

CB alerts are activated by default on CB-capable Alcatel smartphones sold in Greece and running an Android version newer than December 2019. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Step 1: Open the Main Menu

Step 2: Select “Messages”, then select “Options”.

Step 3: Select “settings”, then “Area messages”.

Step 4: Find the “Local messages” option and turn it on/off.

Cell Broadcasting on Xiaomi – Android 9

CB alerts are activated by default on CB-capable Xiaomi smartphones sold in Greece and running an Android version newer than December 2019. It is not recommended to turn off CB alerts on your device.

Step 2: Select “Passwords & Security”;

Step 3: Find the “Emergency alerts” option and turn it on/off.
